Senses Poetry Y4B

During school grounds week, we went to the school field to record what we could see, hear, touch and smell. Back in the classroom we used our poetry skills to expand the imagery. We then taped different pieces of coloured paper to our tables and used charcoal and graphite sticks to create images suitable for our poems. After that we used handwriting sessions to write them out neatly before finally copying them onto accetate so they could be glued over the images.

Using My Senses

To combine our study of poetry with our Vye computers, we wrote our own poems based upon ‘Using my senses’. The children had to describe sights, sounds, smells etc that they really liked. Next, we searched and copied images from the internet to illustrate the images we created in our poems. We then used Movie Maker to make the images appear in time with our words. Finally, we saved that version of our work and then added extra sounds.
Here are the first batch.

And a few more…

I apologise for the sound and video quality, as I saved the movie I condensed it to 3mg. As a result the pictures are grainy and some of the sounds have lost clarity :( My fault, not the children’s. If anyone reading this knows what sort of size file is best (not too large to take forever to load yet not to small to impair the quality) please blog to let me know.
Thanks,
Mr. Sumner

Y4B – Vye Homework

In literacy this week we are going to look at adverts. Your job is to use your Vye to make an advert for anything you like. You could make up your own product or you could make an advert for something that already exists.
Start preparing now by looking and listening carefully to adverts to see what they include:
Jingles, music, famous people, slogans, promises, rhetorical questions… The list goes on!
We begin our study tomorrow. If there are any adverts that you’d like us to look at blog them below so that I can check they are ok to watch in class.

Y4B Assembly Video

Last week, as we prepared to take home the palm top Vye computers, we learned how to edit pictures to fit with an audio file. The pictures are from our Tudor assembly. The children worked in groups to record and edit each scene into a short movie. The music that we used and the dances that were in the assembly have not been put in here.
We hope you enjoy our video editing.

Here is part two. (I’ve accidently repeated one of the scenes in this second part – sorry) :P

Please comment to let us know what you think.

Y4B’s Tudor Display Work

To end our Tudor study the children decided which aspect of Tudor life they were most interested and researched it. They did this to produced reports about their topic in literacy. They also had to design a way to illustrate their work for display, using at least two types of media. I am delighted with their work and it now is on display outside the office.

I know that some of these photos are fuzzy and out of focus but I will take new photos next week and update the slideshow then.
